In order to write like Zadie Smith A writer must take on An unnatural amount of responsibilty Because of the assumed greatness and exemplary prose That comes with being one of the Greats

Nails - a poem
You asked me to cut my nails Because I hold on for dear life When we are together I said it would cost twenty dollars And you wanted to know If I meant the manicure Or the past hour

Breaking Point - a poem
You said conversate And scary when you meant to say scared You add extra suffixes And ignore vital prefixes I let it all go Because the sex was good But then you said In the most serious of tones That people in Spain All speak French And I realized I hit my breaking point Because no number of orgasms Makes up for the amount Of times I held my tongue

Having fun isn't hard when you've got a library...
Just finished reading Heidi W. Durrow’s novel The Girl Who Fell From The Sky. I will post a review after I fight with the library at 10am. Preview? Okay.  It could have been better but it could have been much worse. Durrow and Senna should really collaborate on something big. More later on today.

Every time I return a bunch of books to the library, they always forget one. I am so tired of this. Now I have to go to the library at 10 in the morning so that I can state my case. I am also returning at least six of the books I already have.

Going to write later. Still need to finish scouring around for my textbooks. Eating sushi and drinking mango juice. Watching Never Let Me Go.

Collection - a poem
I’m taking up a collection Not for money But for smiles They don’t have to be genuine I do not mind They will all go into my pocket For safe keeping And when I am having a bad day I will reach in and pull one out Because when everything is wrong Even the most fake smile counts

Hot Water - a piece of flash fiction
She was ready. Her favorite movie was playing on her television. She cooked her favorite meal. The pajamas she chose were perfect for staying on the couch for the night. As the movie’s main character talked about his new job, Shana lifted her warm mug to her mouth and took a sip. She took another. After the third taste, she realized she forgot to put the tea bag into the water. It was her...

Shampoo - a piece of flash fiction
Melanie stopped lathering her hair when she felt the cool tingle of the shampoo; it wasn’t her usual lavender scented, dollar store brand that she had to buy every week. Shana’s shampoo. Melanie was supposed to put the half empty bottle into the cupboard under the sink. She reminds herself every time she sees the clear green bottle and picks up the purple one beside it. The minty...

My mother is legit cooking on the grill. There is at least two inches of snow on the ground. Her defense? “There is no reason for my grill to sit on the porch all lonely when we have grillable food in the house.” Yes, our grill in on the front porch.
